Overheard

I overheard Xy talking on the phone, commiserating with a co-worker about a frustrating staff meeting:

I felt like giving birth right there and telling her, “Eat my placenta, bitch!”

Ah, the joys of being a public school teacher.

Wow, I wanted to say that at a meeting today too, I’m also a public school teacher. I was told that I was going to be working with a child who is very violent 1:1 for 4 hours a day despite the fact that it’s a health risk and I’m pregnant. Where was XY when I needed her?

  2. So, B, what’s your assessment? Is that the nature of her normal retort that’s being applied to her condition, or is it the result of additional hormonal changes and physical burden the pregnancy has placed on her?

That’s a damn great line, certainly on par with the “So dark…” comment; I need to be around her more often to get more wit for my repertoire.

  3. Hammy: ‘Tis the nature of her normal retort. As a friend of mine remarked via e-mail, “That’s the Xy we know and love.” So very true.

it is xy’s consistent display of apt and artful dialogues like this that led me to create my “who the f**k was particle butthead (and why was he such a bunghole)?” shirt. from an old, uncared-about undershirt of course…
