April 25, 1991: cinderella -- the extended version

I.
Prince announces 1000-year ball, 
celebrating another millenium of his endless rule.  
Step-mother (who is actually prince in drag) 
plays role of "devil's advocate," 
talking the prince down to test Cinderella's loyalty.

II.
Preparations for ball.  
We meet Cinderella's step-sisters.  
Points of interest: 
endless stories entailed in the episode 
of the prince's search for the slipper-fitter.  
Some are tragedies, some are comedies.  
The homeless never even get to see the prince.  
The rest see, are tested, fail.  
Some cope.  
Some can't.  
But Cinderella alone is chosen.  
She knows the slipper fits her, 
but is not certain the prince is coming.  
More testing from step-mother.

III.
And finally, of course, Cinderella's Revenge.
